Arenal Volcano
National Park
Located about 9 miles from Fortuna in the northwest part of Costa Rica, Arenal Volcano National Park is one of the most visited destinations in the Northern Zone. The volcano has experienced constant activity since the 1960s, and its landscape has two faces: one covered with lush vegetation sheltering a variety of wildlife and the other rugged with lava tracts and sand. Covering approximately 47 square miles, the National Park offers several trails as well as daytime and nighttime viewing opportunities and is considered the area’s main attraction.
