CENTRAL PACIFIC |
The Central Pacific is where the rainforest meets the beaches. It has three cities that are well developed for tourism: Quepos, Jacó and Puntarenas. Close to Quepos is Manuel Antonio National Park, which protects 12 islands that are excellent refuges for different species of seabirds. The region’s main attractions are its numerous beautiful beaches, several of which are less than two hours from San José, as well as wildlife refuges, national parks and biological preserves. A wet and rainy climate allows for greater biodiversity, and the transition from tropical wet forest to tropical forest to tropical dry forest creates the perfect habitat for numerous plant and animal species.
