Facebook is Testing Another New Stories Layout as it Continues to Push Usage: Facebook has launched a new layout test for its Stories feature. This test gives Stories nearly all of the top of screen real estate when the app is opened. This is an effort for the platform to increase usage of the feature, as fewer than 10% of Facebook users are currently checking Stories. Facebook Implements New Restrictions on 'Low Quality' Ads: Facebook has announced a new set of restrictions, and increased penalties, for brands that publish 'low quality' ads, which can be defined as ads that include clickbait, direct people to unexpected content, or create overall bad experiences for users. Facebook Launches New Dashboard to Better Track Facebook Ad Performance: After months of testing, Facebook has launched its new Attribution dashboard, which will enable advertisers to get more in-depth insight into how each element of their Facebook presence is performing, including data on contribution to sales and comparative measurement. Facebook Rolls Out 3D Photos That Use AI to Simulate Depth: Facebook is now rolling out 3D photos to add make-believe depth to your iPhone portrait mode. Everyone can now view 3D photos and the ability to create them will become available to users in the coming weeks. Twitter Plans to Remove the Like Button in a Bid to Improve Quality Debate: Founder Jack Dorsey admitted at a Twitter event that he was not a fan of the heart-shaped button and that it would be getting rid of it "soon". Twitter's potential removal of the like button forms part of an effort to create a healthier climate of debate on the platform by putting more of an emphasis on replies, as opposed to passive likes. Twitter Launches Test of New Button to Switch Between Chronological and Algorithmic Timeline: As promised last month, Twitter is now beginning a new test for an easy method to switch between chronological and algorithm-defined timelines, allowing users to choose their preference. Twitter Updates Actions in Response to Rule Violations: Twitter has announced a new measure to improve the transparency of platform rule violations, while it will also now remove tweets you report from your timeline. New Pinterest Feature Allows You to Sync Your Instagram and Pinterest Accounts: Pinterest just launched a new feature allowing users to claim their Instagram account on Pinterest, giving users attribution on Pins that originate from their Instagram accounts even if someone else did the pinning! Additionally, claiming an Instagram account will give users more robust native analytics on the platform, allowing brands to better track how content is performing.
