Instagram Instagram Tests Hiding Like Counts Globally:
Instagram is making Like counts private for some users everywhere. Users will still be able to tap on the 'and others' notification beneath any post and see a full list of people who've liked it, and you can still view total like counts for your own content. Although the test has been active for some five months in various countries, we still don't have any data from Instagram as to how platform usage has or hasn't changed as a result, nor do we have any insight as to what the platform is looking at as a measure of success for the now expanding test.
Instagram Instagram Is Testing a New Display Layout for IGTV Content:
It is rumored that Instagram is working on a new format for IGTV content, which would switch a user's main feed into a vertical scrolling list, leading you through to the next video in stream. Instagram is also looking to add categories into your IGTV discovery listings.
Facebook Facebook Prototypes Favorites for Close Friends Microsharing:
Facebook is prototyping a feature similar to Instagram Close Friends called Favorites, which lets users send their Facebook Story or a camera-based post from Messenger to only those people on their Favorites list, which may encourage users to share content more often.
Facebook Facebook Debuts Viewpoints, Rewards Users For Survey Participation:
Adding another potentially useful tool for marketers, Facebook just debuted Viewpoints – a market research app that rewards users for taking part in surveys, tasks and research.
