Sunny greetings from The Beaches of Fort Myers&Sanibel

We know now is the time to stay at home, but can all still look ahead to a brighter future. We are still here to help you plan for later. When it's time for attendees to work and play together again, our natural island paradise and unique team-building activities will inspire.

In the meantime, we hope to light up your day by sharing how different communities across The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel have come together in inspiring ways to help and support each other.

Stay well and take care of yourself.

Sanibel Island Cow
Helping those in crisis is a common thread for the Podlasek family, owners of this popular restaurant. In 2018 their 14-year old daughter founded Kids' Care Disaster Relief, a nonprofit organization for disaster support services. When they first heard about COVID-19 in Southwest Florida, the family of four began sewing protective face masks for local doctors, nurses and health care workers. They were even able to secure N95 protective material to place inside the masks, making them safe for use in healthcare settings. So far, they have produced over 1,000 masks. "As long as there's a need and our Island Cow remains closed, we remain committed to supporting our community, especially our friends and health care workers," said Elke Podlasek.

Wicked Dolphin Rum
Distillery
& Fort
Myers Brewing
Company
This family-run distillery has been supporting the community by shifting gears from producing award winning rum to making hand and surface sanitizer. Thus far, they have donated over 1,000 gallons of their homemade sanitizer to health care workers and first responders. To increase the distillery's production of hand sanitizer, Fort Myers Brewing Co. is now producing mass quantities of "wash", a high-sugar solution that's been fermented for two weeks. This effectively doubles Wicked Dolphin's production capacity as they turn the "wash" into the final product. The partnership will continue until there is no longer a need for the product.

The Roots of Society
These two local businesses came together last month and showed us the power of partnership. Employees from both establishments prepared and delivered (car-side) approximately 2,000 grab-and-go meals to those in the hospitality industry who may be going through tough times. What was on the menu? Craft street tacos with cuban style black beans or beef stroganoff served over penne pasta.

Hyatt Regency
Coconut Point
Resort & Spa
A few weeks ago, the resort emptied its refrigerators and freezers and invited all employees to a drive-thru food pantry event. Keeping everyone safe and healthy was a top priority and social distancing was practiced. Employees did not have to get out of their cars as they drove through the hotel parking garage to pick up free groceries for their families.
