U.S. 2022 Benefit Open Enrollment Starts Today! Deadline November 10th
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2022 benefits presentation with Katie Jones at Marsh and McLennan Agency. As we shared, today marks the official start of our 2022 Benefits Open Enrollment.

The 2022 Benefits Guide is a great tool for referencing coverage details, rates, and other benefit details available to you. You can review the 2022 Open Enrollment Benefits Presentation as a refresher, or in case you weren't able to attend the presentation as you dig into your options for 2022.

You have between now and close of business on Wednesday, November 10th to make your elections and changes to your benefit selections for a January 1, 2022 effective date. After that time, per IRS rules, you will not be able to make elections or changes without a Qualifying Life Event (QLE). Life changes such as marriage, birth of a child, divorce, or loss of coverage in another plan are example QLE's that might allow you to make mid-year changes if completed within 30 days of the event.

For 2022 benefits, we will follow a partial Active/partial Passive enrollment.

Active enrollment
You will need to take action as an active enrollee during our 2022 Open Enrollment if you:
  • Wish to add or update dependent/beneficiary information, including confirmation that your dependent/beneficiaries have the correct social security number listed in ADP
  • Wish to enroll in a Medical, Dental or Vision plan for 2022 (Your 2021 enrollments will not roll over)
  • Are not currently enrolled in a plan and wish to elect coverage in any plan(s) for the first time, including our new 2022 plan offerings (Hospital Insurance, LegalShield/Identity Theft)

  •  Wish to enroll in a 2022 (FSA) Flexible Spending Account (Health Care, Dependent Care, Limited Health Care, Transit) (Your 2021 enrollments will not roll over)
  •  Wish to enroll in Accident Insurance for the first time. In addition to electing the plan in ADP, you will need to complete your enrollment registration here.
  •  Wish to increase coverage for one of the voluntary plans that you are currently enrolled in (Critical Illness, Voluntary Life Insurance up to the guaranteed issue amount without Evidence of Insurability required, if increase is above the guaranteed issue amount, Evidence of Insurability will be required, adding new coverage for spouse, Evidence of Insurability will be required)
  •  Wish to enroll in Pet Insurance for the first time or adding another pet, In addition to electing the plan in ADP, you will need to reach out to Nationwide directly to complete your enrollment at 877-PET-VPI, or here.
Passive enrollment
If you are currently enrolled in Nationwide Pet Insurance or the voluntary plans with Unum (Long Term Disability, Critical Illness, Accident, or Voluntary Life Insurance), these plans are passive for open enrollment and your current elections will roll over to 2022, no action is required by you unless you wish to cancel coverage or change your level of coverage.

Open Enrollment is also a good time to think about whether you need to make a beneficiary, W-4 or 401(k) change. Beneficiary and W-4 changes can be made directly in ADP.

401(k) Changes can be made through Empower Retirement. If you would like to contact Empower Retirement In regards to your online account or login information, they can be reached at 1-888-411-4015. Participant call center number is 855-983-9460. Empower Retirement's New Participant Experience (website) is rolling out to participants on November 10th. Download the Empower Retirement Personalized Experience PDF and take a guided video tour of the new website.

For those of you enrolling in one of our medical plans in 2022, don't forget BlueKC Virtual Care - download the care app to access medical and behavioral care visits from the comfort of home.

Blue KC members can also call a Mindful Advocate 24/7 for immediate care in times of crisis. These licensed behavioral clinicians can also offer support in other ways. They are here to listen, help you navigate your health benefits, and connect you to the appropriate care. To learn more about Mindful by Blue KC visit MindfulBlueKC.com.

Speaking of mental health, a lot of us need deeper support. In addition to using the tools above, benefit eligible employees will now have access to the Enhanced EAP (Employee Assistance Program) + Work/Life through HealthAdvocate. You might want to also consider using some of your remaining PTO for mental health breaks. The upcoming holiday season is statistically a more stressful season that may intensify struggles for those with depression, anxiety, PTSD and other conditions. It's a good time to take a little extra care of your mental health. You will still be able to carry up to five days of PTO into the new year should you need a post holiday break.

We look forward to hearing your feedback and how we can help to support you, and remember, all enrollment selections must be completed in ADP no later than close of business on Wednesday, November 10th. You can access ADP here.
