June Diversity Moments
Pride Month
Celebrate Pride Month
Pride Month commemorates years of struggle, the ongoing pursuit of civil rights, and the acceptance and respect of LGBTQ+ individuals. For many members of the LGBTQ+ community, Pride Month symbolizes freedom and individuality.
Pride Month gets its roots from the June 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, where a series of riots took place in response to police oppression of the gay community by New York law enforcement. This summer rebellion became a pivotal moment for the gay liberation movement in the United States.

Though there have been a number of advancements since that time, there are issues that still negatively impact the global LGBTQ+ community. Allies have played a significant role in the overall LGBTQ+ movement and will be key to continued progress.

To help build and support the work being done here at the Company, please consider joining the MMGY LGBTQ+ ERG. Here are some resources to help you better understand the issues the LGBTQ+ community is still facing: Also check out this month's micro lesson featured in Emtrain: Uplifting LGBTQIA+ Voices
Windrush Day
Celebrate Windrush Day
Windrush is a day which observes the anniversary of the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush to Tilbury and celebrates the British Caribbean people who have lived and worked in the UK helping to rebuild the country post-war.
It is also a time to reflect on the racism suffered by this community because of the Windrush Scandal, when the British government wrongly but knowingly deported, detained and denied legal rights to British Caribbean people who had been living in the country for decades. This community is still waiting for justice to be served. On this day, we remember those who have died and stand in solidarity with those still waiting for compensation.

If you're on Instagram, @everydayracism_ is a great account to follow as they discuss issues in the UK around race and racism. The paragraph above is inspired by their post from last June, which is linked below and has some more details about Windrush Day: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQabF7KMqDr/

UK-Specific Policy and Benefits
BUPA – Private Medical Insurance
Private medical insurance is an optional benefit for all UK employees upon successful completion of probation.

Provided by BUPA, all employees who opt in to our scheme will be covered by the company’s private medical insurance. The company will cover the cost of the employee premiums, and employees will be eligible to cover their dependents through salary sacrifice.

If you would like to opt-in, please reach out to the HR Team.
Cycle to Work Scheme
Now that it is getting sunnier (and warmer), the thought of being stuck on the Tube or train might not be the most appealing prospect. As a reminder, we do have a Cycle to Work scheme that is available for employees who have passed their probationary period.

In a nutshell, the way the scheme works is that the Company will pay the upfront cost of a bike (up to £1000 maximum) and then a set amount will be deducted from your monthly salary over 12 months until the loan is paid off in full.

If you are looking to start cycling, either to commute into the office or just for weekend trips, you can take advantage of this scheme and grab yourself a new bike.

Further details on the scheme and how to apply can be obtained from your friendly HR team.
