We are excited and proud to announce our win as Explore Asheville's new advertising agency partner. Asheville’s natural assets, culinary scene, iconic attractions and four-season appeal offered us the opportunity to highlight their community-driven creative core. With the instant connection created between MMGY and Asheville, along with our destination marketing experience, the client felt we were the right choice to promote Asheville, North Carolina, as a premier destination. Congratulations to all MMGY team members who played an important part in winning Explore Asheville! |

First Class
individual + team achievements |
Congratulations to the Signature Travel Network team for being recognized in the Apex Awards, a prestigious publishing competition now in its 33rd year. The Travel Magazine was honored with an Award of Excellence in the custom publication category (alongside Ford and Amtrak!). Not only does the team work seamlessly with the client to produce this beautiful print magazine several times a year, but they work in conjunction with DMOs, cruise lines, hotels and tour operators to create originally written and designed features in each issue. Outstanding efforts from the entire team: Leah Swofford, Sarika Chawla, Laura Amores, Emily Sarpolus and Roya Zaidi. |

You and Your Benefits
What to know (in case you didn't) |
MMGY Global offers one community service day off each calendar year for employees to serve the community by choosing the charity of their choice. As we continue into 2021, it's important to take a step back and reflect on how we can take our time to give back in a positive way to our community. Take this time off to help out your community in an area you're passionate about.
As a friendly reminder, please submit your community service day off in ADP under Time Off Requests. In addition, please use the following code below when entering your community service day off in Workamajig:
21-MMGYnon-30861-2021 Other Time Off (non-PTO) and select Task 3: Community Service
For additional ideas on where you can volunteer on your community service day off, please visit our MMGY Intranet: Volunteer Opportunities (Note: The volunteer opportunities listed at this time are for KC-based employees). |

Celebrating International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples
|
International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is observed on August 9 and serves as a powerful day of advocacy to not only honor Indigenous Peoples globally but also to educate the world on emerging issues faced by these populations. The world began observing this day in 1994 when a resolution was passed by the United National General Assembly. On this day, events are held globally to elevate Indigenous voices and mobilize political resources to protect the rights of Indigenous Peoples around the world.
Did you know?
- There are over 476 million Indigenous Peoples living in 90 countries across the world
- Indigenous Peoples are the holders of a vast diversity of unique cultures, traditions, languages and knowledge systems
- Indigenous Peoples are nearly three times as likely to be living in extreme poverty compared to their non-Indigenous counterparts
- Globally, 47% of all Indigenous Peoples in employment have no education, compared to 17% of their non-Indigenous counterparts. This gap is even wider for women.

Agency Week Recap
|
|
During Agency Week, each U.S. office designated one afternoon for a social outing planned by the Culture Crew!
The N.Y. team gathered for lunch at The Frying Pan, a historic vessel permanently docked at Pier 66 Maritime within the Hudson River Park.
The L.A. office celebrated with a cruise on the marina! This was one of their first in-person events following COVID-19 shutdowns, and the team was happy to be together again, enjoying the Pacific Ocean breeze and watching the boats sail by.
D.C. dined at J. Gilberts, a local steak and seafood restaurant.
K.C. catered lunch to the office and hosted an Amazing Race through downtown Overland Park! Once all teams made it to the finish line, they capped off the afternoon with drinks and prizes. |

TRAVEL BOOKING WINDOWS STARTING TO NORMALIZE
|
In Q2 2021, we have seen a shift back to a more even distribution of booking windows. While some of the shift toward longer air booking windows reflects less-restrictive refund rules, hotel bookings are being made further out as well, showing a continued sign of growing confidence. The further people plan ahead, the more confident they feel their trip will actually happen. And we think the media has helped too with the chatter that you had better book now or risk missing out on your upcoming vacation. |
