Grifco Account Manager Ellen Christophers hosted six media at Farnborough Airport for the International Airshow. On the hottest day of the year, when most of us were sitting as close to our fans as we could, Ellen solely and seamlessly dealt with travel chaos and tricky media to facilitate tours, a sit-down lunch and back-to-back interviews with the CEO, leaving our client very happy at the end of the day. Well done, Ellen!

Sarah Sheehan and Kimiko Scotland took part in the Arizona Governor's Conference where they joined international PR and marketing reps to host a Q&A session on market and media trends. More than 500 people from Arizona's tourism industry attended the three-day conference, which looked at the state's COVID recovery record and future plans. They each rounded off their trip with a FAM tour where Sarah went north and Kim went south, swapping London's heat wave temperatures for a balmy 100+ degrees in The Grand Canyon State.

Strategy + Travel Insights
U.S. Travel's Latest Summer 2022 Forecast
The latest U.S. Travel Forecast projects that travel will remain resilient despite high inflation and an overall decline in consumer sentiment. Domestic leisure travel spending has already surpassed pre-pandemic levels, even when adjusted for inflation – though it is projected to remain $46 billion below where it should have been in 2022 if not for the pandemic. You can download and read the full report here.
The Spending Habits of Frugal Shoppers
Anna Hobbs and her husband in France
According to a recent study from GWI, frugal shoppers are money-savvy individuals. They take the time to research products before taking the plunge, considering opinions and reviews along the way. They’re drawn toward brands that offer discount codes or loyalty schemes, and once frugal shoppers are drawn in they’re more likely to stay loyal. Frugality doesn’t necessarily correlate with income – the majority of the groups sit within the middle-income segment. With 81% of this group valuing being financially secure, it appears that’s the real driver behind their thriftiness.
Gender Identity and Expression
Anna Hobbs and her husband in France
Traditional gender roles continue to influence social expectations and norms. Younger generations and LGBTQ+ people are more likely to recognize and feel limited by these outdated but enduring stereotypes. As gender expansive identities and expressions grow in prominence, consumers will increasingly look to brands to eliminate traditional gender roles and support gender diversity. Read more from Mintel's latest report on gender identity and expression in the U.S. here.
