MMGY NJF and MMGY provided paid media, PR and website support to Visit KC for KC Restaurant Week in January to lift Kansas City's culinary scene and encourage delivery, takeout and in-person reservations at restaurants throughout the city.
From Dec. 1 to the final Sunday of KC Restaurant Week, we drove in a record-breaking 515K visits to the website. That officially puts this year’s Restaurant Week as having the most website visits in the history of the 13-year program.
On top of that, website and mobile app engagement were through the roof. The average user frequented more than 9 pages per visit, which brought in a pageview total of 4.6M impressions. As for the mobile app, we converted more than 8,000 downloads and 140K app visits – both record highs.
Not surprisingly, our primary audience was locals, which accounted for 78% of all website visits. However, we had over 113K website visits come from outside of the KC-Metro, which represents a 26% increase compared to 2020’s pre-pandemic event.
Thank you to the team’s hard work on this year’s event. From media planning and PR pitches to last-minute website patches, our team worked tirelessly to make sure KCRW went off without a hitch. |

Congratulations to the KOA creative team for taking home a Silver Addy Award for the KOA Field Guide Illustration work!
|
|
We also want to give special recognition to Kasi Yalon's beautiful illustration work. As Brandon Sanders said, "I may be biased, but Kasi deserved a gold on that one. One of the biggest misses by the judges IMO ... really great illustration work. It's a very tough category in KC though," and we couldn't agree more.

Prepare for Takeoff Strategy + Travel Insights

Forget the Great Resignation, this is the Great Reevaluation. |
A redirection movement has been started, with individuals reevaluating what is important to them. We might be hearing this as it relates to career changes, but this trend has a greater impact on how consumers are making other decisions in life. As humans, we crave a sense of belonging, and the last few years have left many feeling discontent with their place in life. According to a recent poll from GWI, 81% of consumers are actively seeking change in 2022 - this rose 8 percentage points in less than a year. This has led to a pretty big shift in the status quo, as consumers are feeling more comfortable with change and don't want to feel stagnant any longer. |

Black Women Want to Be Seen in the Luxury Travel Space |
Among Black women specifically, a growing movement exists with the intention to normalize Black women’s participation in the luxury space. According to a recent study from Mintel, 50% of Black women aged 35 - 54 are interested in treating themselves to a luxury trip compared to 35% overall. Luxury travel brands have the opportunity to acknowledge that Black women belong in this space and offer luxury upgrades and packages that give Black women the chance to indulge and treat themselves.
