TO THE EUROPEAN TRAVEL COMMISSION EVENTS AT WTM 2014

VISIT EUROPE NEW COMMUNICATION STRATEGY
IN RESPONSE TO TOURISM CRISIS
Press Conference

12.30 pm Tuesday 4th November at World Travel Market,
Platinum Suite 6 (Press Centre) EXCEL London

The European Travel Commission, with the support of the European Commission, has stepped up its efforts to promote Europe as a destination. Research conducted by the ETC reveals that traditional, one-way communication is rapidly losing its effectiveness in the face of digitally sophisticated consumers.

The ETC is innovating the way Europe presents itself on the Internet by switching to a new marketing approach, where experiences and stories focussed on specific consumer interests are at the heart of its promotional activities.

What does the current digital traveller look like?
What makes a great story?
How can the online travel ecosystem be tackled?
What does the new inspirational platform offer?

The ETC will answer these questions and unveil the new VisitEurope.com portal at the press conference where speakers will include:

•  Miguel Gallego Marketing Manager, European Travel Commission – ETC

Miguel Gallego is an expert in different levels of tourism administration, from city tourism boards to regional and national tourism organisations. Since 2012 he has been responsible for coordinating ETC’s marketing and promotional activities in major long-haul markets.

•  Robert Patterson VP, Content & Social Strategy, MMGY Global

Robert Patterson has more than a decade of online marketing communications experience and leads MMGY’s practices in social and influencer media channels. He was recently named to the Skift30, a list of the travel industry’s top influencers in digital marketing.

•  Vivien Sediri Development & Design Coordinator, Amadeus

Truly passionate about everything revolving around technology, Vivien’s broad experience in design and web development led him to steer the efforts towards bringing together inspiration, discovery and planning capabilities under the new VisitEurope.com portal.
