Finniss River Lodge Offers New Luxury Experience Less Than Two Hours From Darwin

Three years in the making, the Northern Territory’s Finniss River Lodge officially welcomed its first guests last month. Located on a working cattle station 90 minutes by car from Darwin, this luxurious, six-suite accommodation offers outback adventures, a signature Cows & Canapes sunset dining experience and a wet-edge swimming pool with views as far as the eye can see. New Outback Hiking Experience Coming to Watarrka National Park
|
Australian Walking Company (AWC) will be coordinating the design and operation of a multiday walking adventure in Watarrka National Park. According to Nicole Manison, Deputy Chief Minister, "Watarrka is a culturally significant ancient wonderland." While the government and AWC are determined to build a unique experience for visitors, their top priority is collaborating with the Traditional Owners of the land and ensuring the project benefits them with job opportunities. Western Arrente-Luritja Traditional Owner Hubert Pareroultja highlighted that "the project is a good thing to do for the young people, to give them work."

Katherine's Mimi Aboriginal Art & Craft Brand-New Center Now Open for Visitors
|
Mimi Aboriginal Art & Craft’s newly built center opened this spring at its previous address of 6 Pearce Street. The center’s gallery features works from throughout the Big Rivers region, and the center’s studio space lets Aboriginal artists produce, showcase and sell their work. Moreover, the center’s outdoor spaces and enhanced facilities make for a more meaningful visitor experience. Mimi Aboriginal Art & Craft is featured in the Territory Arts Trails, a curated collection that helps travelers know where to find Aboriginal art all throughout the Territory.

Maguk Gorge Reopens As NT’s Top End Enters Dry Season
|
Maguk Gorge, a waterfall-fed emerald plunge pool, is found in the southern region of Kakadu National Park. Impressively, it is one of the only waterfalls in the region that flows while there is no rain. This gem reopened in early June as the NT’s Top End makes its way into the dry season.

Journey Beyond Doubles Its Tours in 2023 for The Ghan
|
The Ghan is a world-renowned, elegant train journey that takes travelers all throughout the Northern Territory. Due to popular demand, Journey Beyond will be doubling the capacity in 2023 for "The Red Centre Spectacular" and "The Ultimate Territory Tour", two Ghan packages introduced in 2021. Both packages include small-group Outback Spirit touring in the Red Centre. Journey Beyond has also added Outback Spirit touring in the Top End to "The Ultimate Territory Tour" for 2023 trips.

Outback Dining at Kings Canyon Now Running May–October
|
Experience an outback dining delight only found at Discovery Kings Canyon, located about halfway between Alice Springs and Uluru. Beginning with canapes and sparkling wine, you will then be whisked away to a hidden location, where a table for two under a canopy of stars awaits. A fire flickers as you're served a five-course dinner created from seasonal, locally sourced produce with paired wines. The Under A Desert Moon dining experience runs from May through October.
