|
The Northern Territory’s capital city is well-known for an exciting food scene with gastronomical elements from all over Asia and the South Pacific being fused together by the region’s talented chefs and restaurateurs. And now, dozens of Darwin establishments beloved by foodies are participating in the new Plastic Free NT program in order to minimize dependence on single-use plastic and turn to compostable or reusable items. Saffron Restaurant in Parap has become the program’s first plastic-free champion, and many restaurants are expected to follow suit. Travelers should keep an eye out when exploring Darwin’s food scene to see which restaurants are joining this wonderful movement.

Desert Mob Happening Through October 23, 2022

Desert Mob, found at Araluen Arts Centre in Alice Springs, showcases work from Aboriginal artists hailing from all across Australia. Entering its 31st year, Desert Mob featured speaking engagements with artists and curators as well as a marketplace in early September. Registration for Million Dollar Fish Competition Now Open

As of September 1, registration for the eighth season of the Million Dollar Fish Competition is open. Running from October 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023, this competition invites fishing enthusiasts to try their hand at finding one of the nine fish worth $1 million that have been released in Top End waterways. If any of the nine million-dollar fish are caught, the remaining eight revert to a worth of $10,000 each.
