Karimui-Nomane District
The Karimui-Nomane District is located in PNG’s Simbu province and is known for hosting the Karimui Show each year. The festival is relatively new – only in its fourth year running – and will highlight the local communities and cultures of the region to encourage awareness and appreciation of each other and the surrounding natural environment. The 2021 iteration of the festival will be hosted November 17–19 and will feature singsings (colorful dances) and rituals of the Simbu people of Karimui, which include cane walkers, unique headdresses and intricate ceremonial face paints.

The Goroka Show
The Goroka Show is known as one of the longest-running and most culturally significant singsings in Papua New Guinea. With more than 100 tribes from all over PNG participating in the event, it’s an incredible display of color, sound and tradition. The show has been canceled both this year and last due to coronavirus concerns, but until the show returns (hopefully in 2022), we can remember the 2019 festival! Check out the video here!
