A short one-and-a-half-hour flight from Port Moresby lies East New Britain – home to fascinating World War II history, rich cultural heritage and two active, grumbling volcanos. Air Niugini passenger numbers higher than pre-pandemic levels in 2019

Air Niugini, the national airline of PNG that offers a range of flights domestically as well as internationally, shared encouraging news recently. Bruce Alabaster, Air Niugini’s CEO, reported that its passenger numbers are already higher than the pre-COVID levels of 2019. Furthermore, after a two-year hiatus, Air Niugini’s inflight magazine Paradise will resume print – a sign that international and domestic travel in PNG is trending in the right direction.
