IMPORTANT UPDATES for visiting Rwanda
Visit Rwanda - An adorable baby gorilla.
In an effort to accommodate the growing population of mountain gorillas, the Rwanda Development Board announced that Volcanoes National Park will expand by nearly 40 square miles. Population research figures show that the total gorilla population has topped 604 individuals per the 2015 mountain gorilla census, up from 480 in 2010. This expansion of the park will allow for nearly 15 square miles to be dedicated to the national park and more than 25 square miles for a “buffer zone,” which allows for agroforestry and agricultural use between the park and local communities for their benefit.

COVID-19 Update
Rwanda’s COVID-19 Updates
In late June, the Rwandan government enacted additional health measures to help contain further spread of COVID-19 after a rise in cases and transmission rates throughout the country. While all tourism activities are permitted to continue with strict adherence to local health guidelines, restaurants and cafes must operate at 30% capacity – and these among other businesses must close no later than 6 p.m. in order to observe the 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew. All COVID-19 testing policies for arriving tourists remain the same. For more information on COVID-19 testing policies in Rwanda, visit the link below.
