’Tis the season to hunt pheasants in South Dakota!
The crunch of the brush underfoot, the smell of the open field, the sound of “ROOSTER!” followed by the blast of a shotgun—it’s what we wait all year for. In South Dakota, October means the start of an orange-tinged holiday: pheasant season!
Hunters from across the country are making their way to South Dakota for a hunting experience unlike any other. While bird numbers have slightly decreased from last year, they’re still double the numbers in 2013. That means experts are expecting a harvest of more than 1 million birds this year.
