Brand new in 2022, the Family Dig is paleontology fun for the entire family. Excavate fossils in a simulated dig site using the same tools as on-site paleontologists. Come to learn about fossil extraction and preservation, leave with a jacket shell, informational notebook, and official certificate.

The extinct relatives of the Pronghorn Antelope return in the Mammoth Site’s new exhibit. These reconstructions of the modern antelope’s ancestors offer a fascinating look into South Dakota’s iconic large mammals, remains of which have been found at The Mammoth Site. See and touch this exciting new exhibit!

BRING ON THE PRONGHORN

Our brand new augmented-reality (AR) topographic sandbox lets you move sand and see in real-time how the topography changes. How will it impact wildlife, plants, and fossil discovery? Only you can find out with this exciting new technology. There’s also a stream table for hands-on learning on how water interacts with land.
